Wash your hands
Fill the neti pot with sterile, distilled, or previously boiled and cooled water
Add the recommended saline mix to the water
Lean over a sink and tilt your head to one side
Place the spout gently into the upper nostril
Breathe through your mouth
Pour the saline solution slowly so it flows through one nostril and out the other
Let the solution drain completely
Repeat on the other side
Blow your nose gently after rinsing
Clean and dry the neti pot after each use
Use only sterile, distilled, or boiled and cooled water
Stop using it if you feel pain, bleeding, or severe discomfort
