How to Use Digital Multimeter?

Set the multimeter to the correct measurement mode

Plug the black probe into the COM port

Plug the red probe into the correct port for the measurement

Turn off power before measuring resistance or continuity

Touch the probe tips to the test points

Read the value on the display

Use the DC voltage setting for batteries and electronic circuits

Use the AC voltage setting for outlets and AC sources

Use the resistance setting to test components and wires

Use the continuity setting to check if a circuit is connected

Use the current setting only in series with the circuit

Start with the highest range if the meter is not auto-ranging

Remove the probes after each measurement

Turn the meter off after use
