Obtain the required permit and follow local electrical code
Use the correct panel rating, breaker sizes, wire sizes, and approved fittings
Mount the panel securely and maintain required working clearances
Install the service entrance conductors into the panel through approved connectors
Connect the service conductors to the main breaker lugs
Connect the neutral service conductor to the neutral bar
Bond the neutral bar to the enclosure only where required for the service disconnect
Install the grounding electrode conductor to the grounding bar
Connect grounding electrodes as required by code
Keep neutrals and grounds separated in subpanels
Route branch circuit cables into the panel through proper knockouts and connectors
Strip conductors to the correct length and terminate each wire under the proper breaker or bar
Connect hot conductors to the appropriate breakers
Connect neutral conductors to the neutral bar
Connect equipment grounding conductors to the grounding bar
Torque all terminals to the manufacturer’s specifications
Label each breaker clearly
Install the panel cover and breaker directory
Restore power and test each circuit for proper operation
Have the installation inspected by the authority having jurisdiction
Hire a licensed electrician if you are not fully qualified to perform electrical work
