How to Stop a Bleeding Shave Cut?

Wash your hands first

Apply firm, direct pressure with clean gauze or a clean cloth

Hold pressure continuously for 10 to 15 minutes without checking

If bleeding continues, keep applying pressure for another 10 to 15 minutes

Raise the area above heart level if possible

Rinse the cut gently with cool water once bleeding slows

Apply a styptic pencil, alum block, or a small amount of petroleum jelly if available

Use an ice pack wrapped in cloth for a few minutes to help slow bleeding

Cover the cut with a clean bandage once bleeding stops

Seek medical help if bleeding does not stop after 20 to 30 minutes of firm pressure

Seek medical help if the cut is deep, gaping, or spurting blood

Seek medical help if you feel faint or the bleeding is heavy
