Gather basket material, base material, scissors, clips, and water if needed
Soak pliable weaving material until flexible
Cut base strips to equal length
Arrange base strips in a cross or spoke pattern
Secure the center with a temporary clip or tie
Fold weaving strips around the base
Start weaving over one base strip and under the next
Alternate over-under pattern with each row
Pull each row snug to keep the basket even
Add new weaving strips by overlapping ends
Keep the sides upright by tightening as you go
Bend base spokes upward when the bottom is complete
Continue weaving around the sides in the same pattern
Shape the basket by adjusting tension and spacing
Trim excess ends when finished
Tuck loose ends into the weave
Secure the rim with an extra row or binding strip
Let the basket dry completely before use
