See a healthcare provider for prescription treatment
Use permethrin 5% cream or oral ivermectin exactly as directed
Treat all household members and close sexual contacts at the same time
Apply medication to all skin from the neck down, including under nails and between fingers and toes
Leave treatment on for the recommended time before washing off
Repeat treatment if instructed by the healthcare provider
Wash bedding, clothing, and towels used in the last 3 days in hot water
Dry washed items on high heat
Seal non-washable items in a plastic bag for at least 72 hours
Vacuum mattresses, carpets, and upholstered furniture
Avoid close skin-to-skin contact until treatment is complete
Do not share clothing, towels, or bedding
Trim fingernails and clean under them
Use antihistamines or soothing lotions for itching if approved by a healthcare provider
Seek medical care if itching or rash persists, worsens, or signs of infection appear
