Rinse the whiting fish and pat it dry
Season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic, paprika, or lemon juice
Heat a skillet with oil or butter over medium heat
Dredge the fish lightly in flour or cornmeal if desired
Place the fish in the hot skillet
Cook for 2 to 4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through
Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels
Serve with lemon wedges, herbs, or your preferred side dishes
