Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine
Let the engine cool
Place a drain pan under the oil filter area
Put on gloves
Remove the old oil filter
Check that the old filter gasket is not stuck to the engine
Lightly coat the new filter gasket with clean oil
Install the new oil filter by hand
Tighten the filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Wipe away any spilled oil
Start the engine and check for leaks
Turn off the engine and recheck the oil level
Add oil if needed
Dispose of the old filter properly
