How to Get a Tooth Out?

Do not try to pull out a tooth yourself

If a tooth is loose, avoid wiggling or twisting it

Rinse your mouth gently with warm salt water

Eat soft foods and avoid chewing on that side

Use a cold compress on the outside of the cheek if there is pain or swelling

Take over-the-counter pain medicine only as directed on the label

See a dentist as soon as possible

If the tooth is knocked out, handle it by the crown only

If the tooth is dirty, rinse it briefly with milk or saline

Try to place the tooth back in the socket if possible

If you cannot reinsert it, keep it in milk, saline, or saliva

Get emergency dental care immediately

Seek urgent care if there is heavy bleeding, severe pain, swelling, fever, or trouble breathing or swallowing
