Turn off the water supply if needed and access the tub drain area
Dry-fit the drain assembly parts before gluing or tightening
Install the tub shoe into the drain opening with plumber’s putty or the manufacturer’s seal
Attach the overflow elbow to the overflow opening with its gasket
Connect the overflow elbow to the tub shoe using the connecting pipe
Align all drain components so the assembly sits square and level
Tighten slip nuts by hand, then snug with pliers if required
Apply PVC/ABS cement only to solvent-welded joints, if applicable
Connect the drain outlet to the trap arm
Install a P-trap directly below the tub drain
Ensure the trap is properly vented according to code
Maintain the correct slope on horizontal drain piping
Check all gaskets, washers, and threaded connections for proper seating
Fill the tub and test for leaks at every joint
Tighten or reseal any leaking connections
Reinstall access panels or finish wall coverings after testing
