Sand the filler smooth
Apply self-etching primer or rust-inhibiting primer
Let the primer dry and sand it smooth
Apply matching automotive paint in thin coats
Apply clear coat if required
Let the paint cure fully
Wet sand and polish for a smooth finish
Inspect regularly and touch up chips quickly
Keep the area clean and waxed to prevent future rust
