Open the door
Look for visible screws on the handle or plate
Remove the screws with the correct screwdriver
Check for a small release pin or set screw on the handle
Press the release pin or loosen the set screw if present
Pull the handle off the spindle
Remove the trim plate if needed
Unscrew the latch from the door edge
Pull the latch assembly out of the door
Keep all screws and parts together
