Disconnect the battery
Raise and support the vehicle if needed
Remove the engine covers and accessory drive belts
Remove components blocking access to the timing belt
Set the engine to top dead center on cylinder one
Mark the timing positions if required
Release the timing belt tensioner
Remove the old timing belt
Inspect the pulleys, tensioner, and water pump
Replace worn timing components as needed
Install the new timing belt in the correct routing
Align all timing marks exactly
Apply proper tension to the belt
Rotate the engine by hand two full revolutions
Recheck timing mark alignment
Reinstall all removed components
Reconnect the battery
Start the engine and check for proper operation
Inspect for unusual noise or leaks
