Confirm the vehicle uses the correct refrigerant type listed on the under-hood label
Wear gloves and safety glasses
Start the engine
Turn the A/C to maximum cold and highest fan speed
Open the hood and locate the low-pressure A/C service port
Attach the refrigerant hose gauge to the low-pressure port only
Check the current pressure on the gauge
Shake the refrigerant can if required by the product instructions
Hold the can upright unless the can instructions say otherwise
Open the valve slowly to begin charging
Add refrigerant in short bursts
Monitor the gauge while adding refrigerant
Stop adding when the pressure reaches the recommended range
Do not overfill the system
Disconnect the hose from the service port
Replace the service port cap
Check that the A/C blows cold air
Dispose of any empty cans according to local rules
