Park on a flat, stable surface and set the parking brake
Turn on hazard lights
Put the vehicle in Park (or in gear for a manual) and turn off the engine
If available, place wheel chocks on the opposite side of the wheel you will change
Locate the spare tire, jack, and lug wrench
Loosen the lug nuts slightly (do not remove them yet)
Position the jack under the vehicle’s approved jacking point near the flat tire
Lift the vehicle until the flat tire is off the ground
Remove the lug nuts and place them where they won’t roll
Remove the flat tire and set it aside
Mount the spare tire onto the hub, aligning the mounting holes
Hand-tighten the lug nuts in a star/crisscross pattern
Lower the vehicle until the spare tire contacts the ground
Tighten the lug nuts firmly in a star/crisscross pattern
Fully lower the jack and remove it from under the vehicle
Stow the flat tire, tools, and wheel chocks
Check spare tire pressure if possible
Drive carefully and avoid high speeds and hard braking
Have the flat tire repaired or replaced as soon as possible
