How To Clean A Keurig Coffee Maker?

Unplug the Keurig and let it cool

Remove the water reservoir and empty it

Wash the water reservoir and lid with warm soapy water; rinse well

Clean the exterior with a damp cloth; dry thoroughly

Remove the K-cup holder (if your model allows) and wash with warm soapy water; rinse and dry

Wipe the K-cup area and funnel with a damp cloth

Remove and rinse the drip tray and drip tray plate; dry and reassemble

Clean the needle area

Open the handle to access the needle

Use a soft brush or paper clip to gently clear any coffee grounds from the exit needle and entrance needle

Wipe away loosened residue

Descale the machine using one of the following methods

Use Keurig descaling solution: fill reservoir, run brew cycles into a sink until reservoir is empty, then rinse cycles with fresh water until it runs clear

Use white vinegar (if allowed for your model): fill reservoir with 1:1 vinegar and water, run cycles into a sink until empty, soak the reservoir for 30 minutes, then run multiple cycles with fresh water until no vinegar smell remains

Rinse thoroughly

Refill reservoir with fresh water

Run at least 4 brew cycles (without a K-cup) into the sink

Clean the water lines (optional but recommended)

Repeat fresh-water brew cycles until taste/odor is gone

Reassemble and run a final test brew

Insert a new empty K-cup (or run without a K-cup, if preferred) and brew once

Repeat the cleaning schedule

Quick wipe and rinse parts weekly (or as needed)

Descale every 3–6 months (more often if you have hard water)
