Trim the cat’s nails beforehand
Brush out tangles and loose fur before bathing
Gather cat shampoo, towels, a cup or sprayer, and a non-slip mat
Close doors and windows to keep the cat contained
Fill a sink or tub with a few inches of lukewarm water
Place a non-slip mat or towel in the bathing area
Keep the cat calm with a quiet voice and gentle handling
Wet the cat slowly, avoiding the face, ears, and eyes
Apply a small amount of cat-safe shampoo
Massage the shampoo in quickly and gently
Rinse thoroughly until no shampoo remains
Wipe the face with a damp cloth instead of pouring water on it
Keep the bath as short as possible
Wrap the cat in a towel immediately after rinsing
Use a second dry towel if needed
Keep the cat in a warm, draft-free room until fully dry
Offer treats after the bath
Stop if the cat becomes extremely stressed or aggressive
Use pet wipes or a damp cloth for light cleaning if a full bath is not necessary
