Check the shape and spacing of the lower opening
Male cats usually have two openings farther apart
Male cats often have a round lower opening
Male cats may have a visible scrotum between the openings
Female cats usually have two openings close together
Female cats usually have a vertical slit below the anus
Compare the distance between anus and genital opening
Use gentle handling and good lighting
