Look under the tail
Female cats usually have the anus and vulva very close together
Female cats have a vertical slit below the anus
Male cats usually have more space between the anus and genital opening
Male cats have a round genital opening below the anus
Male cats may have visible testicles after about 6 to 8 weeks of age
Male kittens may have a slight bulge where the testicles will develop
Female kittens usually have a flatter area below the anus
Compare the distance between openings
