Lift the tail gently
Look for a second opening below the anus
Check the distance between the anus and genital opening
Short distance usually indicates a female
Longer distance usually indicates a male
Female opening looks like a vertical slit
Male opening looks more like a round dot
Male kittens may have a slight bulge between the openings
Compare with a known male or female if possible
