LDL HDL ratio = LDL cholesterol ÷ HDL cholesterol
Use the same units for both values
If LDL is 120 mg/dL and HDL is 40 mg/dL, the ratio is 120 ÷ 40 = 3
Write the result as a number, such as 3:1 or 3.0
Lower ratios are generally better than higher ratios
