Unplug the coffee maker and let it cool completely
Remove the filter basket, carafe, and any removable parts
Wash removable parts with warm, soapy water
Rinse and dry all removable parts thoroughly
Fill the water reservoir with equal parts white vinegar and water
Place the empty carafe on the warming plate
Run a full brew cycle
Turn off the coffee maker and let the solution sit for 15 to 30 minutes
Run the remaining solution through another brew cycle if needed
Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe
Fill the reservoir with clean water
Run two to three full rinse cycles with fresh water
Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth
Clean the showerhead or brew basket area with a soft brush or cloth
Reassemble the coffee maker after all parts are dry
Repeat descaling every 1 to 3 months depending on use and water hardness
