Wash the squash and dry it
Cut a thin slice off one end to create a flat base
Place the squash on a cutting board with the flat side down
Use a sharp chef’s knife
Cut the squash in half from stem to bottom
Scoop out the seeds and stringy pulp with a spoon
Cut each half into wedges or slices as needed
If the squash is very hard, microwave it for 1 to 2 minutes first to soften it slightly
