Brush or comb hair to remove tangles
Lightly mist with water or smoothing spray
Gather hair at the crown or back of the head with your hand
Secure with a hair tie (leave a loop of hair at the last pull if you want more volume)
Twist the gathered hair into a loose rope or bun shape
Wrap the twisted hair around the base of the ponytail
Tuck the ends under the bun
Secure with bobby pins or a second hair tie as needed
Gently tug at the bun and edges to loosen and create “messy” volume
Pull out a few face-framing pieces if desired
Set with hairspray
Add extra bobby pins where the bun feels loose
