Tilt your head so the affected ear faces downward
Gently pull the earlobe in different directions to help water escape
Lie on your side with the affected ear down for a few minutes
Use a warm compress against the ear for a short time
Create a gentle vacuum by cupping your hand over the ear and releasing it
Yawn, swallow, or chew to open the Eustachian tube
Use a hair dryer on the lowest setting, held at a safe distance
Try over-the-counter drying ear drops if appropriate
Avoid inserting cotton swabs, fingers, or other objects into the ear
Seek medical care if pain, fever, drainage, hearing loss, or symptoms persist
