Let the top 1 to 2 inches of soil dry out between waterings

Remove standing water from saucers, trays, and cachepots

Water from the bottom when possible

Replace or remove decaying leaves and plant debris from the soil surface

Cover the soil surface with a thin layer of sand, diatomaceous earth, or decorative gravel

Use yellow sticky traps near the plants to catch adult gnats

Apply beneficial nematodes to the soil

Use BTI mosquito dunks or granules in watering water

Repot the plant with fresh, sterile potting mix if the infestation is severe

Check for overwatering and improve drainage

Quarantine infested plants away from others

Inspect new plants before bringing them indoors
