Measure the area and plan the tile layout

Mark reference lines to keep the installation straight

Dry-fit tiles to check spacing and placement

Mix the mortar or adhesive according to the manufacturer’s instructions

Apply mortar or adhesive to a small section of the surface with a notched trowel

Press tiles into place with spacers between them

Check alignment and level as you go

Cut tiles as needed to fit edges, corners, and obstacles

Allow the tile to set for the recommended time

Remove spacers after the mortar has set enough to hold the tiles

Mix and apply grout into the joints with a grout float

Wipe excess grout from the tile surface with a damp sponge

Allow the grout to cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions

Apply sealant if required for the tile or grout type
