How to Tile a Shower Floor?

Remove the old flooring and clean the shower base

Inspect the subfloor and repair any damage

Ensure the shower pan has the correct slope to the drain

Install a waterproof membrane or shower pan liner

Mark the drain location and dry-fit the tiles

Mix thin-set mortar according to the manufacturer’s instructions

Spread thin-set with a notched trowel

Set the tiles starting from the drain and working outward

Maintain even grout joints with spacers

Cut edge tiles to fit around the drain and perimeter

Check tile slope toward the drain as you work

Allow the thin-set to cure fully

Remove spacers and clean excess mortar from joints

Apply grout to the tile joints

Wipe off grout haze with a damp sponge

Seal the grout if required

Apply silicone caulk at changes of plane and around the drain

Let all materials cure before using the shower
