How to Tile a Bathroom?

Measure the bathroom and calculate the tile quantities

Choose the tile layout and pattern

Gather tiles, thinset, grout, spacers, trowel, level, tile cutter, sponge, and safety gear

Remove old flooring or wall coverings if needed

Inspect and repair the subfloor or wall surface

Clean and dry the surface thoroughly

Install cement backer board or waterproof underlayment where required

Apply waterproofing membrane in wet areas

Mark reference lines and dry-fit the tiles

Mix thinset according to the instructions

Spread thinset with a notched trowel

Set tiles into the thinset

Insert spacers to keep even grout joints

Cut tiles to fit edges, corners, and fixtures

Check alignment and level as you go

Allow the thinset to cure

Remove spacers

Mix grout and apply it with a grout float

Wipe excess grout from the tile surface

Clean haze after the grout firms up

Seal grout if required

Reinstall trim, fixtures, and baseboards

Caulk expansion joints and edges with silicone caulk

Allow everything to fully cure before regular use
