Use a standard 52-card deck
Deal 26 cards to each player
Each player keeps their cards in a face-down stock pile
Place 5 cards face down in a row in front of each player
Turn the top card of each row face up
Set aside 2 central spit piles, empty at the start
Both players say “spit” and play at the same time
Each player tries to place a face-up card onto a spit pile
A card can be played if it is one rank higher or lower than the top card of the spit pile
Aces can be played on Kings and 2s
When a card is played, turn the next face-down card in that row face up
If a row becomes empty, you may use the face-up card from the row below it
If neither player can play, both players say “spit” again and reveal a new top card on each spit pile
Continue playing as fast as possible
When a player uses all cards in a stock pile, they win the round
If both players run out of moves and cannot continue, reshuffle and redeal if needed
Play multiple rounds if desired to determine an overall winner
