Turn on the device you want to control
Insert fresh batteries into the RCA universal remote
Find the remote code list for your device brand
Press and hold the device button on the remote
While holding the device button, press and hold the Power button
Wait until the remote light stays on
Release both buttons
Enter the 3- or 4-digit code using the number buttons
Wait for the light to turn off
Test the remote functions
If it does not work, repeat with another code for the same brand
If codes do not work, use the code search method
Press and hold the device button and Power button again
Release when the light stays on
Press the Play or Power button repeatedly until the device turns off
Press Stop to save the code
Test the remote again
Repeat for each device you want to program
