Disconnect the battery
Remove the ignition coil or spark plug wire
Blow compressed air around the spark plug well
Spray penetrating oil around the spark plug base
Let the penetrating oil soak
Use the correct spark plug socket and extension
Turn the plug slowly counterclockwise
Stop if the plug binds hard
Tighten slightly, then loosen again if needed
Work the plug out in small increments
Remove any broken porcelain or debris carefully
Use a spark plug extractor if the shell is broken
Use a left-hand drill bit if the plug is seized
Use an extraction tool if the electrode or shell breaks off
Vacuum the cylinder area before removing the plug completely
Avoid forcing the plug
Remove the cylinder head if the plug cannot be extracted safely
Replace the spark plug with a new one
Apply anti-seize only if recommended by the manufacturer
Torque the new spark plug to specification
