How to Replace a Rocker Cover Gasket?

Disconnect the battery

Remove any engine covers, intake pipes, or components blocking access to the rocker cover

Label and disconnect hoses, wiring, and breather lines attached to the rocker cover

Remove the ignition coils, spark plug leads, or other top-mounted components if needed

Loosen and remove the rocker cover bolts in a crisscross pattern

Lift off the rocker cover carefully

Remove the old gasket from the rocker cover and cylinder head

Clean the gasket mating surfaces thoroughly

Check the rocker cover for cracks, warping, or damage

Install the new gasket into the rocker cover groove or onto the mating surface

Apply sealant only where specified by the manufacturer

Refit the rocker cover carefully without disturbing the gasket

Tighten the rocker cover bolts evenly in the specified sequence and torque

Reconnect all hoses, wiring, breather lines, and removed components

Reinstall ignition components and engine covers

Reconnect the battery

Start the engine and check for oil leaks around the rocker cover

Recheck bolt tightness if required by the manufacturer
