Wash the pan with hot water and a small amount of mild soap if needed
Scrub off any rust or old residue with a non-abrasive pad or steel wool
Dry the pan completely
Heat the pan on the stove or in the oven to remove all moisture
Apply a very thin layer of neutral oil to the entire surface, inside and out
Wipe off all excess oil until the pan looks almost dry
Place the pan upside down in a preheated oven at 450–500°F
Put foil or a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch drips
Bake for 1 hour
Turn off the oven and let the pan cool inside
Repeat the oiling and baking process 2–4 times for a stronger seasoning
After each use, clean with hot water, dry thoroughly, and apply a light oil coat
