Let the skillet cool completely

Scrape out loose food with a spatula or scraper

Rinse with hot water

Use coarse salt and a little water for stuck-on residue

For stubborn buildup, boil water in the skillet for a few minutes

Dry the skillet immediately with a towel

Heat the skillet on the stove to remove all moisture

Apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the inside and outside

Wipe off any excess oil

Store in a dry place

Re-season the skillet after removing rust
