Scrub off loose rust with steel wool or a stiff brush
Wash the pot with warm water and mild dish soap
Rinse thoroughly and dry completely
Apply a paste of baking soda and water to stubborn rust
Scrub again with steel wool or a scrub pad
Rinse and dry immediately
Coat the pot lightly with cooking oil
Bake it upside down in the oven at 450°F to 500°F for about 1 hour
Let it cool completely in the oven
Repeat seasoning if needed
Store in a dry place to prevent future rust
