Consider loperamide for adults to reduce watery stool if there is no fever and no blood in stool (follow label directions; do not use for children unless directed by a clinician)

Check with a clinician before using anti-diarrheal medicines if you are pregnant, elderly, immunocompromised, or have significant medical conditions

Seek medical care urgently if you have blood or black/tarry stool

Seek medical care urgently if you have high fever, severe abdominal pain, or persistent vomiting
