How to Test Water Pressure at Home?

Turn off all water-using fixtures and appliances in the house

Attach a water pressure gauge to an outdoor hose bib or laundry faucet

Make sure the faucet is fully closed before attaching the gauge

Open the faucet fully to let water flow into the gauge

Read the pressure on the gauge in pounds per square inch

Check the reading against the typical home water pressure range of 40 to 80 psi

Test more than one faucet if you want to compare pressure in different areas

Repeat the test at different times of day if pressure seems inconsistent

Contact a plumber if the pressure is too high, too low, or fluctuates a lot
