Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or zinc oxide barrier ointment
Use fragrance-free, gentle skincare products only
Avoid new foods, wipes, creams, or detergents that may irritate the skin
Do not use steroid creams unless advised by a doctor
Keep nails short to reduce scratching
Use a cool compress for itching or redness
Offer fluids to help prevent drooling-related irritation
Seek medical care if the rash spreads, has blisters, crusting, pus, fever, swelling, pain, or does not improve
Get urgent care if there is trouble breathing, lip or tongue swelling, or severe illness
