Press and hold the Test/Hush button to silence the alarm temporarily
Turn off power to the alarm at the circuit breaker if it is hardwired
Remove the alarm from its mounting bracket if you need to disconnect it
Disconnect the backup battery if the unit has one
Twist the alarm counterclockwise to detach it from the base
Unplug the wiring harness if it is a hardwired model
Remove the battery from battery-powered models
Replace the alarm if it is chirping due to end-of-life or malfunction
