Check that the gas supply is on
Make sure the area is well ventilated
Turn the oven control knob to the ignition or bake setting
Press and hold the knob if required
Use the igniter or light the pilot if your stove has one
Wait until the burner lights
Keep holding the knob for a few seconds if needed
Release the knob slowly
Set the desired temperature
Confirm the flame is steady before closing the oven door
