Skin feels hot to the touch, especially the chest or back

Sweating, damp hair, or a flushed face

Rapid breathing

Restlessness, fussiness, or unusual irritability

Sleepiness, lethargy, or being harder to wake

Warm or red skin without another clear cause

Heat rash or small red bumps

Fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher

Fewer wet diapers than usual

If the baby feels hot but the hands and feet are not the only warm parts

If the baby is overdressed or wrapped in too many blankets
