Choose the correct sling size and type
Explain the transfer to the patient
Lock the wheelchair, bed, or chair wheels if needed
Position the sling correctly under the patient
Attach all sling loops or clips securely to the lift
Keep the patient centered and supported
Raise the patient slowly and smoothly
Move the patient carefully to the destination
Lower the patient slowly into the chair, bed, or surface
Detach the sling only after the patient is safely positioned
Recheck the patient’s comfort and alignment
Store the lift and sling properly after use
