Wash the pot with hot water and a small amount of mild dish soap
Scrub off any rust or residue with a stiff brush or steel wool
Rinse thoroughly and dry completely
Place the pot on low heat for a few minutes to remove all moisture
Apply a very thin layer of cooking oil to the entire surface, inside and out
Wipe off all excess oil until the pot looks almost dry
Preheat the oven to 450°F to 500°F
Place the pot upside down on the middle rack
Put a sheet of foil or a baking tray on the lower rack to catch drips
Bake for 1 hour
Turn off the oven and let the pot cool inside
Repeat the oiling and baking process 2 to 3 times for a stronger seasoning
Use the pot regularly and dry it well after each wash
