Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C)
Wash the acorn squash
Cut the squash in half lengthwise
Scoop out the seeds and stringy pulp
Place the squash halves cut-side down on a baking sheet
Add a little water to the baking sheet if desired
Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, until fork-tender
Remove from the oven
Let cool slightly before handling
Scoop out or serve the flesh as desired
