Measure the rice
Rinse the rice in cold water until the water is mostly clear
Drain well
Add the rice to a pot or rice cooker
Add water using the correct rice-to-water ratio
Let the rice soak for 20 to 30 minutes
Cook the rice
If using a pot, bring to a boil over medium heat
Reduce to low heat and cover
Simmer until the water is absorbed
Turn off the heat and let it steam for 10 to 15 minutes
Fluff the rice gently with a rice paddle or fork
Serve warm
