How to Cook Brown Basmati Rice?

Rinse the brown basmati rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear

Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain

Add 1 cup rice and 2 to 2.5 cups water to a pot

Add a pinch of salt if desired

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat

Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot

Simmer for 35 to 45 minutes until the water is absorbed

Turn off the heat and let the rice rest, covered, for 10 minutes

Fluff the rice with a fork before serving
