Wait until flowers start fading, browning, or drying
Pinch or snip off the spent flower head
Cut back to just above the nearest healthy set of leaves or side shoot
Remove the entire flower stem if it has finished blooming
Use clean, sharp scissors or pruners
Deadhead regularly during the blooming season
Check plants every few days for new spent blooms
Avoid cutting into healthy green growth below the flower stem
Dispose of removed blooms to keep the plant tidy
Continue deadheading to encourage more flowers
