Locate the USB drive in Finder
Click the Eject icon next to the drive name in the Finder sidebar
Drag the USB drive icon to the Trash in the Dock
Right-click the USB drive icon and choose Eject
Press Command + E while the USB drive is selected
Wait until the drive disappears from Finder before unplugging it
