How to Germinate Apricot Seeds?

Remove the pit from a ripe apricot and clean off all fruit flesh

Crack the hard pit carefully to extract the seed inside, if desired

Soak the seeds in water for 12 to 24 hours

Place the seeds in a damp paper towel, peat moss, or sand

Seal them in a plastic bag or container with some air exchange

Refrigerate at 34 to 40°F for 6 to 12 weeks

Check periodically to keep the medium moist, not wet

Plant the seeds in pots or directly outdoors after chilling

Place the seed about 1 to 2 inches deep in well-draining soil

Keep the soil consistently moist

Put the pots in a warm, bright location after planting

Wait for sprouting, which may take several weeks

Transplant seedlings once they are strong enough to handle
